Living in Orem
Orem earned its Family City USA nickname the honest way, with parks on nearly every side of town, a college campus that keeps things young, and shopping and services just about everywhere you look. It is one of the more affordable and practical places to land in Utah County, and Provo Canyon is only a few minutes from the east side of town.
Daily life in Orem is built around convenience and community. Utah Valley University brings a steady hum of students, events, and part-time energy, while University Place anchors the center of town with shopping, dining, and a walkable outdoor plaza. You are rarely more than a few minutes from a grocery run, a pediatrician, or a soccer field, and the SCERA Center and its summer shows are a long-running local tradition. Families appreciate the flat, bike-friendly streets and the mix of established tree-lined neighborhoods and newer infill. When the workday ends, Provo Canyon and the Bonneville Shoreline Trail are close enough for an easy evening outdoors.

Commute
Orem sits right on I-15 with several easy on-ramps, so Silicon Slopes and the Lehi tech corridor are roughly 20 to 25 minutes north. Downtown Salt Lake City is about 45 to 50 minutes, and UVU and central Provo are just minutes away.
New construction
As a largely built-out city, most of Orem's new construction comes as infill, townhomes, and condos rather than large subdivisions. New single-family builds do come up, so it is worth watching inventory closely.
HOA & fees
Many established single-family neighborhoods in Orem have no mandatory HOA, while newer townhome and condo communities often do. I will always confirm the specifics for any home before you write an offer.
